Says Governor has proven to be a true friend of the Idoma people through inclusive governance and visible development
JOS, PLATEAU STATE — The Idoma Community Development Association, Plateau State Chapter, has unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the administration of Governor Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and formally endorsed him for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The historic endorsement was made on Wednesday 26, August during a well-attended interactive session between the leadership of the Idoma Nation in Plateau State and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Middle-Belt Ethnic Nationalities, Hon. Dan Kwada.
The meeting, which held at the Idoma House within the National Museum Complex, Jos, brought together the complete leadership structure of the Idoma Nation in the state, comprising Presidents and Secretaries of all 21 districts, traditional title holders, elders, women and youth leaders.
Coordinating the session, Rev. Innocent Akor said the decision was reached after a careful and objective assessment of the Governor’s performance in the last three years.
According to him, the Idoma people on the Plateau have observed with keen interest the inclusive, detribalized and people-centered leadership style of Governor Mutfwang, which has given every ethnic nationality in the state a sense of belonging and genuine participation in governance.
“We have seen a Governor who does not discriminate. His projects and policies have touched every community. Because we have discovered that he is a true lover of the Idoma people, we have decided to key into the movement and make him our consensus candidate for the 2027 Governorship election,” Rev. Akor stated.
In his declaration speech, the newly elected President of the Idoma Nation in Plateau State, Chief Peter Amede, who spoke on behalf of the 22 district leaders present, said Governor Mutfwang has matched words with action.
Chief Amede cited the numerous infrastructure projects, improved security architecture, and deliberate efforts at restoring peace across the state as clear evidence of genuine leadership capacity that has brought direct relief to ordinary citizens.
He further disclosed that the Idoma Nation has resolved to deliver bloc votes for Governor Mutfwang in 2027, revealing that a majority of Idoma indigenes resident in Plateau have already transferred and domiciled their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in the state to make the endorsement count.
On his part, the Acting Ad’Idoma and Paramount Traditional Ruler of the Idoma Nation in Plateau State, Barr. John Musa, lauded Governor Mutfwang for his consistent support and solidarity with the Idoma people, particularly during their moment of grief following the demise of their immediate past traditional ruler, late Chief Barr. Leonard Adejo, in early 2026.
Barr. Musa described the endorsement as a payback for good and a demonstration of loyalty, saying the Idoma Nation will stand with a leader who stood with them.
Corroborating the position, a highly respected elder statesman, Major Adaofikwu (Rtd), extolled the achievements of the ‘Time is Now’ administration across health, education, agriculture, transportation, rural roads, water supply and workers’ welfare.
Major Adaofikwu noted that Governor Mutfwang has changed the narrative of leadership in Plateau by deliberately uniting the diverse ethnic nationalities in the state and across the entire Middle-Belt region.
“Governor Mutfwang has introduced a different style of leadership that promotes unity and development. I want to assure him that none of the Idoma votes is going anywhere. Come 2027, all our votes are for Governor Mutfwang on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC),” he declared.
Responding, Hon. Dan Kwada expressed profound gratitude to the Idoma Nation for the overwhelming show of love and confidence in Governor Mutfwang’s administration.
Hon. Kwada described the endorsement as a strong validation of the Governor’s inclusive governance philosophy and his unwavering commitment to equity, justice and fairness for all ethnic groups in Plateau State and the Middle-Belt at large.
“This endorsement did not come to me as a surprise. Already, all Middle-Belt ethnic nationalities resident in Plateau State are fully for Governor Mutfwang because they have seen and touched the good works of this administration,” Kwada said.
The SSA took time to reel out landmark achievements of the administration, including the revitalization of the health sector, massive road construction and rehabilitation across the three senatorial zones, improvement in peace and security, investment in agriculture, revamping of the transport sector through the Metro Bus Service, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, and an open-door policy that ensures no citizen is discriminated against on the basis of faith or ethnicity.
He assured the Idoma community of continued partnership, more developmental interventions, and deeper inclusion in governance as the administration consolidates on its gains in its second term.
The session ended with a unanimous voice vote affirming Governor Caleb Mutfwang as the sole candidate of the Idoma Nation in Plateau State for the 2027 governorship election.
