A Frontline candidate for House of Representatives Jos North/Bassa Federal Constituency in the forthcoming 2027 general elections, under the platform of the YPP, Dr. Danjuma Sanda has emerged the preferred candidate for the Youth Development and Cultural Development Association (AYDCA).
A statement by the Association, signed by its National President, Maguda Samuel Sani, and a copy made available to African Drum stated that the development came after extensive engagements with the four political candidates contesting at different levels, youth bodies representing the ethnic nationalities of Jos North and Bassa; PYC Jos North, and with other key youth stakeholders in the Constituency.
The statement added that following these engagements and consultations, the Anaguta Youth carefully considered several issues affecting the political future, unity and development of its people.
“We recognize the sacrifice and trust placed upon us by the various ethnic nationalities of Bassa/Jos North. Therefore, our guiding principle has been to choose what will unite us rather than what will divide us”.
The Anaguta Youth further explained that it initially waited for its mother body, the Anaguta Development and Cultural Association (ADCA), to convene a congress where the Youth could present and deliberate on their position regarding the Jos North/Bassa House of Representatives election.
“However, when the mother body could not convene the expected congress, the Anaguta Youth Development and Cultural Association (AYDCA), in exercise of its responsibility to the Youth, convened its congress on 9 August 2026.
“At the congress, the Youth carefully considered the four aspirants and the various issues surrounding the election. The congress also noted that, at the time of the deliberations, only two of the aspirants had their names reflected on the INEC portal.
“After due consideration and deliberation, the congress proceeded to a vote involving the four aspirants, and the following votes were recorded:
Dr. Sanda of YPP scored 37, Hon. Z. Zoyong of the PDP scored 0, Hon. James Yakubu scored 15, while Hon. David Dama scored 0 votes respectively.
The Youth Group expressed satisfaction that the decision was reached through a democratic process after consultations, engagements and careful consideration of the interests of our people and the broader Jos North/Bassa community.
The Group said that its decision has already been formally communicated its mother body, ADCA
The Anaguta Youth body reaffirmed its commitment to the decision reached at the congress and promised to continue to stand with Dr. Sanda of the YPP as the candidate chosen by the Anaguta Youth for the Jos North/Bassa House of Representatives election.
“Our decision is guided by our commitment to unity, peace, mutual respect, political understanding and the collective interest of our people.
“We therefore call on all Anaguta Youth to remain united, disciplined and committed to the collective decision of the congress”.
